Important Issues– This page is under construction. Please pardon my progress.

The top issue for voters is the economy. Unfortunately, the cost of living is rising with inflation and property taxes, as well as housing costs.

Economy-

Fixing the economy involves a combination of short-term stabilization policies. For example, adjusting interest rates or government spending, and long-term structural changes. Like investing in infrastructure, education, and worker rights. Governments use fiscal policy (taxing and spending) and monetary policy (interest rates and money supply). These policies help manage economic growth, control inflation, and reduce poverty. Individual actions like saving and investing also contribute to economic health.

Taxes

Potential for revenue generation

Income tax

Even a small change in tax rates for the top 1% can significantly increase total government revenue. Indeed, a reasonable 0.5% income tax increase on the wealthy would generate significant new tax revenue. This revenue can be used to fund public services or reduce the national debt.

A small tax increase means wealthy individuals pay an extra $50 for every $10,000 in taxable income. The impact depends only on the rise in income tax. For example, one-half of one percent (0.5%) rise in income tax, not on capital gains or property tax- unless income tax is eliminated. A slight increase in income tax is a reasonable solution to securing vital government revenue essential funding.

A long-term solution to reduce the national deficit requires increasing economic growth.

Invest in human capital: Improve education and training programs to create a more skilled and productive workforce.

Encourage innovation: Foster an environment that promotes technological advancement and innovation, for example, by supporting R&D.

Promote international trade: Adopt open trade policies and negotiate favorable trade agreements to boost exports and imports.

Economy

Americans’ views of the nation’s economy are largely negative. We continue to express concern over the price of food and consumer goods. Also, our worries are increasing about housing prices and the availability of jobs. Long-term solutions involve structural improvements like investing in infrastructure and education, rebuilding unions, and regulating monopolies.

Judiciary- Join the Campaign for Judicial Integrity in Louisiana

The Campaign for Judicial Integrity in Louisiana is led by Motion to Quash LLC. It seeks to remove judicial corruption. This is achieved by prohibiting judges from accepting attorney contributions. The initiative provides citizens with tools to challenge corrupt judges. This ensures fair trials. It also restores integrity to the judicial system. Citizens are encouraged to contact their legislators for support.

As a U.S. Senator, I will continue to champion Initiatives that remove fraud before the court.

LGBTQ+ Advocating for LGBTQ+

As a candidate for U.S. Senate, I advocate for all Louisiana citizens, which includes actively promoting legislation that supports the LGBTQ+ community. I support Federal protections against discrimination in both employment and housing. Additionally, I support state and local laws that extend these safeguards to areas like public accommodations. My legislative focus will include policies that recognize same-sex marriage and repeal discriminatory measures.

I will continue to uphold and support federal legal precedents, like the Supreme Court’s 2020 Bostock v. Clayton County decision under Title VII. It affirmed that discrimination in the workplace based on sexual orientation or gender identity is sex discrimination. Additionally, I support policies that allow open service for all qualified individuals in the military.

I am dedicated to protecting the constitutional rights of all communities. For instance, under federal law, a same-sex couple has the right to adopt a child. But, certain adoption agencies and state-level religious organizations continue to practice discrimination against prospective LGBTQ+ parents. As U.S. Senator, I will take swift and intentional action to challenge these discriminatory practices. I am committed to protecting the fundamental rights of all Louisiana citizens.

Gender Spectrum in Sports

Transgender women participating in women’s sports involves complex policies. The policies are set by individual sports governing bodies, with a central focus on the effects of hormone therapy. The focus is also on the balance of fairness and inclusion.

My stance is focused on the impact on athletic performance. Studies show that while hormone therapy reduces athletic performance in transgender women, a persistent advantage remains in certain metrics (e.g., running speed, push-ups) for at least two to four years into treatment. For this reason, I support the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act.

A persistent advantage remains in some metrics for several years due to retained muscle mass and other physiological factors. After two years of hormone therapy, studies found trans women can still have an advantage in running speed (e.g., 12%) and strength metrics like push-ups (e.g., 10%), which can continue for at least four years, according to Oxford Academic

In Support of The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act

My stance for banning transgender women in women’s sports is focused on the impact on athletic performance. Studies show that while hormone therapy reduces athletic performance in transgender women, a persistent advantage remains in certain metrics (e.g., running speed, push-ups) for at least two to four years into treatment. For this reason, I support the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act.

As a U.S. Senator, I will support laws that protect women in sports, including Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.

Nevertheless, the participation of transgender athletes in women’s sports is a significant legal and legislative issue. Over 26 states have implemented laws or policies restricting transgender women and girls from participating in female sports teams. But, these laws are facing legal challenges and conflicting court decisions. The legal situation is evolving, with various court cases and upcoming Supreme Court review of related matters.

For more information, resources are available from the U.S. Department of Education and the Women’s Sports Foundation.

Women’s Issues- Abortion

In Support of the Privacy Rule

The Privacy Rule supersedes our pro life stance. The total abortion ban in Louisiana is a programmatic failure with devastating consequences.

Evidence shows that restricting access to abortions does not reduce the number of abortions. Nevertheless, it does affect whether the abortions are safe. The proportion of unsafe abortions are significantly higher with highly restrictive abortion laws than with less restrictive laws.

In the wake of Louisiana’s abortion ban, women have been given risky, unnecessary surgeries. They have been denied swift treatment for miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies. Women have been forced to wait until their life is at risk before getting an abortion. Louisiana’s total ban on abortion includes rape and incest.

Sadly, abortion bans are changing pregnancy care and worsening maternal health. Louisiana’s ban is impeding a federal law that regulates the provision of emergency health care. It is infringing on reproductive and human rights.

As a U.S. Senator, I will promote laws that support HIPAA, or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. HIPAA protects health information, establishes standards for electronic healthcare transactions, and ensures the portability of health insurance coverage. It protects the confidentiality and security of patient data. Key components include the Privacy Rule. It sets limits on how health information can be used and shared. Additionally, the Security Rule establishes national standards for protecting electronic personal health information.
